The Orange-tip male is unmistakable with his bright orange wing patches & is a true harbinger of spring. Females can be mistaken for Small or Green-veined Whites. However, both sexes have distinctive mottled green markings on the undersides of their wings. They are common in gardens, woodlands and damp meadows & require the same food plants as Green-veined Whites, Lady’s Smock & Mustards.
