Size: 27-34mm

A small, plain, bright orange - brown butterfly with a fine dark edge to the wings. It has a furry rather dumpy body and appears moth - like. Rests in characteristic skipper pose with hindwings flat and forewings raised in a V. This species can be seen, often in large numbers, in rough grassland and meadows. It is a widespread resident.
