Size: 26-36mm

A bright, dainty, shining orange butterfly that favours sunny meadows, woodland clearings and gardens. The forewings are a coppery-orange with brown spots and edges. The hind-wings are dark brown with an orange edge band. The larval food plants are Rumex (Docks and Sorrels). Widespread.
