Size: 53-58mm

This is a distinctive black and white butterfly that prefers tall rough grassland. Often found in limestone areas but also enjoys road verges, waste ground, coastal grasslands especially if they are un-grazed and rarely mown. They can be seen on the fringes of the North Yorkshire Moors.
