Holly Blue

Size: 26-34mm

This butterfly is a silvery sky blue colour. The underwings have tiny black spots without white surrounds or any orange colouration and are a very pale blue. The upper forewings are often marked with thin black edging which is darker and wider on females. Often seen in parks, gardens and along hedges flying high into trees and shrubs and normally not far from ivy which is the larval foodplant for the autumn generation.
