Essex Skipper

Period: Late June to August
Size: 25-34mm

Almost identical to the Small Skipper. The orange-brown wings are finely edged with dark brown and the undersides have a yellowish tinge. Male has dark markings on the wings and is slightly smaller than the female. Distinguishing feature is that the underside of the antenna is black not orange. Occurs in the south of the county, along the Humber and near Doncaster. Is now found in VC66 Durham.
