Clouded Yellow butterflies are migrants from the continent and numbers fluctuate widely from year to year. This butterfly is identified by a figure of eight spot on the underside of the forewings which are rounded in shape. It also has black tips to the upper sides of its wings. It is one of only two yellow butterflies seen in Yorkshire, the other being the Brimstone. Can appear anywhere.
